According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the United States imported a total of 2.708 million net tons of steel in October 2021, a drop of 16.7% from the previous month.
However, total steel imports are 26.53 million net tons during the first 10 months of this year, an increase of 38.5% compared to the same period in 2020.
According to these data, the market share of imported steel was estimated at 24% in October and was estimated at 21% during the first 10 months of 2021.
AISI expected total steel imports to reach 31.8 million net tons in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 44.6%.
