China-based FD Machinery has announced it will supply two CNC-CFS (direct forming square) ERW tube mills and a double-car flying saw to APL Apollo, located in Delhi, India.
The automated tube mills allow the operator to change tube size in 5 min. by entering four parameters on a touchscreen. The size range is 3.15 in square to 7.87 in. square, with wall thicknesses from 0.12 to 0.39 in. Tube length is 13.12 to 26.25 ft., and mill speed is 65 to 196 FPM. The mills will be equipped with automated strip entry sections and automated packing/strapping machines.
The saw will be used for tubes with diameters of 0.47 to 1.97 in. and wall thicknesses of 0.04 to 0.13 in. The cutoff will allow the mill to run at speeds up to 656 FPM.
