Shougang Hierro Peru, is a Peru-based company primarily engaged in the mining sector, announced its earnings and net profits have increased for the first quarter.
The company said net profit for the first quarter was about US$60.1 million, which grew by 210.2% compared with the same period of last year, mainly due to increasing revenues and gross margins.
Meanwhile, Shougang Hierro Peru said the rise in iron ore prices was positive for the company''s first-quarter results. Its first quarter net income grew by 86.3% to about US$152 million compared with the same period of last year.
