According to China’s official released data, the country’s iron ore and coal import has dropped in August, both hit 2-month lows at 74.88 million tons and 18.86 million tons respectively.
Analysts attribute the falling import to the softening demand from slowing down economic growth of the country, rapidly falling prices as well as the oversupply.
The coal import falling was also affected by fears Beijing would roll out policies to restrict coal imports for pollution issue. While, iron ore prices are near a five-year low after dropping nearly 38% in 2014.
