POSCO authorizes SMS group to modernize its wire & rod mill-The 20th China (Guangzhou) Int’l Spring Industry Exhibition

POSCO, the world''s fifth-largest steel producer and South Korean largest steel producer, has awarded SMS group orders to modernize its existing wire-mill in POSCO.
The plant currently produced 540,000 tons of wire and coils per year for automotive applications, ranging in diameter from 14 to 42 millimeters, with coils up to 2 tons.
The project will enable POSCO to achieve quality improvements on the rolling surface of the bar and obtain better coil shape and molding to improve plant efficiency. These features will make it possible for POSCO to better supply the automotive and specialty steel markets.
