According to the report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US’ steel import permit application in September totaled 3.17 million net tons, remaining steady from the previous month.
According to data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US’s steel imports totaled 3.66 million tons in August, dropping by 5% on yearly basis.
During the first eight months, imports totaled 28.6 million tons, up by 36% year on year. Among them, imports from South Korea and China registered an increase of 49% and 70% respectively.
It is estimated that the county’s steel imports will hit 43 million tons in 2014, up by 34% from the previous year.
