Global crude steel output down in January--The 15th China(Guangzhou)Int’l Metal &Metallurgy Exhibition

Global crude steel output totaled 129.8 million tons during December 2013 to January 2014, down slightly by 0.4% compared to the corresponding period of last year, according to the World Steel Association.
The crude steel capacity utilization in January was 74.4%, down by 2.5% on the same month of last year.
Meanwhile, Chinese steelmakers decreased crude steel output by 3.2% to 61.6 million tons from a year ago. India’s crude steel production totaled 6.95 million tons in the month
EU’s crude steel output totaled 14.4 million tons, up by 7.3% compared to a year earlier. The US’s output totaled 7.3 million tons.
