United States raw steel output advanced by 6.1% year-on-year to 1,850,000 net tons in the week ending November 23rd this year while the capability utilization rate was 77.2 percent, as per the latest figures released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
According to AISI, production was 1,744,000 net tons in the week ending November 23, 2012, while the capability utilization then was 70.1 percent.Production for the week ending November 23, 2013 is down 0.3 percent from the previous week ending November 16, 2013 when production was 1,856,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 77.5 percent.
Adjusted year-to-date production through November 23, 2013 was 86,893,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.2 percent. That is a 1.7 percent decrease from the 88,366,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.5 percent.
Broken down by districts, here''''s production for the week ending November 23, 2013 in thousands of net tons: North East: 214; Great Lakes: 676; Midwest: 249; Southern: 627 and Western: 84, for a total of 1,850.
