The Chinese steelmaker Baosteel Group announced to hold tin-plate steel prices steady for June; while its subsidiary of Baosteel Meishan announced to cut prices by US$29~44/ton for some specific customers.
Baosteel has maintained price stability for 3 consecutive months since April. It is pointed out that the demand for beverage cans in China is increasing, although the tin-plate steel has a certain demand, but the customer expects the tin-plate price will fall with other steel products, may delay purchasing.
In this case, the company tries to make sure that the tinplate has a certain profit while not lowering the price.
